Water is Basic

One out of every FOUR children in Southern Sudan dies before the age of FIVE; nearly HALF of those deaths are caused by Water-Related illness.

Aussies did it.....Again!

Well, I need to admit, the Aussies are the best! No questions there! They came in as the best and they leave as the best! No losses at all! Phenomenal!

149???

Dreams of winning the World Cup came to a shattering end when South Africa lost to Australia miserably! All out for a 149! Terrible! Yeah I agree the Aussies are having an extraordinary season, but thats not a good enough reason for 'em to lose this bad! Personally I am disappointed that the South Africans succumbed with such mediocre performance. Well I guess there is now no stopping the Aussies now! They not only have the emotional advantage of being the reigning champions and the only undefeated team in this world cup, but have also proved yet again they are the best! We'll see what the Sri Lankans have to offer. I hope they put up a good fight even if they don't succeed or better yet, they win!

GO Sri Lanka!
Peace!

El final adiós

On my way to work, we were listening to NPR News and a man was narrating about how he survived cancer and how, many years later he lost his 14 Year old boy in an accident. And around this time my buddy changed the station. And he said, "I changed it cos he was talking about death!". And ofcourse, that made me think! Why are we afraid of death or even the though of it? Oh Yes, I understand that we part with the things that we hold dear in this earth, forever! But isnt more expected from people who are heaven-bound? Arent people who believe in the Risen Savior supposed to anxiously and earnestly look forward to the final exodus with sheer anticipation? But it does'nt happen, does it? No SIR, it don't! Why? Very simple! The trifling things of the 'NOW' are more important than the phenomenal things of the 'AFTER'!

Here is a poem I bumped into:

Afraid'
Of what'
To feel the spirit’s glad release,
To pass from pain to perfect peace,
The strife and strain of life to cease.
Afraid of that'

Afraid'
Of what'
Afraid to see the Savior’s face,
To hear his welcome and to trace
The glory gleaned from wounds of grace
Afraid of that'

Afraid'
Of what'
A flash, a crash
A pierced heart
Darkness!
Light!

Oh, heaven’s art!
A wound of His,
A counterpart
Afraid of that'

Afraid'
Of what'
To do by death what life could not
Baptize with blood a stony plot
Till souls shall blossom from this spot
Afraid of that'

E. H. Hamilton

Death is not extinguishing the light from the Christian; it is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come. (Unknown)

Virginia Tech!

My heart cries out for the 33 who were killed and the many who were injured and their families in today's shooting in the campus of Virginia Tech University! Very very tragic! I pray that the good Lord will fill their hearts with peace and comfort!

Peace!

Flip Flops and Flap Jacks Sunday

Flip Flap what?? Well, don't try too hard, it is very simple. We all wear Flip-Flops to church and eat lotsa Flap-Jacks (pancakes) as a family! What a way to celebrate the Sunday after Easter Sunday! Sushil, Mena, Ranjit & Deepu already made it to the 9AM service (losers :)). So we are going to go early for the 10:45 and have breakfast with them! But, the only deal is it is going to be a lil' cold for Flip-Flops, but I think it will be fun!

Peace!

Championship?

Well I must admit, It was awesome to see the Mavs 'B' Team beat the Timberwolves by almost 20 pts. Makes you feel great about the 2007-2008 season! Barea is a very talented point guard! But will they triumph this year or repeat last season's insanity?? Well I guess we got to wait and see! But I say they do it this year! True, the Suns are tremendously good at their offense, but I think the Mavericks are better! And it is good to know that the Spurs are not a big threat to us anymore! So I say, Suns watch out, here comes the Mavericks!

GO MAVS!

Peace!

Rationality!

Rationality is inescapable. Everybody uses it because it is hardwired into our mind from the Creator. Those who wish to deny rationality must use rationality to deny it.

Ravi Zacharias tells the story of his encounter with a Hindu professor of Eastern philosophy. The professor asked him to speak to his philosophy class on the topic "Why I am not a Hindu." Ravi spoke, revealing several areas in which Hindu religious philosophy is self-contradictory, and concluded that Hinduism must be false because it contradicts the law of non-contradiction. At the end of the lecture the Hindu professor dismissed Ravi's arguments saying, "You have made a grave error. You are trying to evaluate an Eastern religion using Western logic. You must use Eastern logic to evaluate Hinduism, and when you do you will find there is no contradiction." The professor then went on to explain how there are two forms of logic: Western, Eastern. He said, "Western logic is either-or logic. It is either this, or that. God is either personal, or He is impersonal. Eastern logic is both-and. It is both this, and that. God is both personal, and non-personal. To understand Hinduism you must use Eastern logic, and when you do you will find it is a perfectly coherent system." At this point Ravi responded, "Sir, let me ask you just one question. Are you telling me that if I want to evaluate Hinduism I must either use the both-and system or nothing at all?" The professor was completely stunned. After a few moments he said, "The either-or does seem to emerge, doesn't it." Ravi said, "Yes it does. And I will clue you into a little secret. Even in India people look both ways before they cross the street. They understand that it's either the bus, or them, not both." The laws of logic cannot be avoided. It doesn't matter what part of the world you are from, or what religion you were raised in. The laws of logic apply equally to everyone because they accurately describe the kind of world we live in. We may deny rationality if we like, but we have to live in a world governed by rationality. While we may deny rationality with our lips, we cannot deny it with our actions. Our actions will always betray the errant philosophy we claim to follow.

Christ Dynasty!

The Lord is Risen! Yes sir, it is Easter Sunday! Great, great day in the Christian calendar! Changed history forever with the start of a new era! An epoch of martyrs and sacrifical living! A period that will last till today, more than 2000 years later! And if you inquire as to why? Then, here it goes!!

Christ, the Lord, is risen today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth, reply, Alleluia!

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Lo! the Sun’s eclipse is over, Alleluia!
Lo! He sets in blood no more, Alleluia!

Vain the stone, the watch, the seal, Alleluia!
Christ hath burst the gates of hell, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids His rise, Alleluia!
Christ hath opened paradise, Alleluia!

Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once He died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!

Soar we now where Christ hath led, Alleluia!
Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like Him, like Him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

Hail, the Lord of earth and Heaven, Alleluia!
Praise to Thee by both be given, Alleluia!
Thee we greet triumphant now, Alleluia!
Hail, the resurrection, thou, Alleluia!

King of glory, Soul of bliss, Alleluia!
Everlasting life is this, Alleluia!
Thee to know, Thy power to prove, Alleluia!
Thus to sing and thus to love, Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
Unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!

But the pains that He endured, Alleluia!
Our salvation have procured, Alleluia!
Now above the sky He’s King, Alleluia!
Where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!

Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

Charles Wesley, 1739

We live in a very flawed and indaequate world! Where good is defined by human perspectives and defective speculations! 'Good' has been altered by circumstances and cultures and religions! So, no man is good! And that is why we need good to be redefined by somebody from out of this world, but also part of this world. We needed a Savior! One who would live with us and suffer with us and die with us and set a standard for us, but yet live forever! We needed a Messiah, we needed Christ! So 2000 years ago HE came, HE lived, HE suffered, HE died and HE rose again! And by doing so, HE redeemed us from eternal damnation! So people we have a standard of good set before us! So we can look to HIM for good and not look within, for we are all fallen creatures in need of a Savior!

So indeed the LORD is Risen! Happy Easter! Peace!

Decadent or Decorated???

I have lived almost 3 decades now! Can't believe it, but it is the truth!

I still remember the little things that made the first 2 decades at Mom & Dad's memorable! I vividly remember the annoying wake up calls, the mandatory breakfasts, the ride to school, the revulsive veggie-lunch, the inescapable tests, the ensuing grades and its gruesome aftermath. I remember the curfews, the constant violation and the never-ending retribution. I also remember dreaming of a life far away from home with no rules and ceaseless fun!

But here I am far far away from home, waking up early, making my own breakfast, driving 20 miles to work, working my hind side off, enjoying salad for lunch and back to bed on time. How Ironic? A life of rules, conjured by ME!!!

Is it a life of ceaseless fun? Not even close! Is this the life I dreamt off in my teenage years? No Way! But I know one thing for sure, it does'nt get better than this and I hope I can say the same in 10 years!

Three Decades! Decadent or Decorated? Neither, just Delightfully Dramatic!

Boss - Out of Office

Oh yeah! My Boss is outta town for the rest of the week! So I can go to work late....wait a minute, I have that meeting to go to! Oh maybe I can take a long lunch, no no hang on, I have to finish that report for HQ before lunch! That's alright, cos I am going to leave early...noooooo can't do that cos I have some releases scheduled. Maybe I will just slack off during the day, who would notice? Wait up! I have project deadlines this week! Darn it! It is just going to be another week. Nevertheless I take pleasure in the fact that my Boss is outta town. Same work, same schedules, same deadlines, but no boss! Hey, it doesn't get any better than that!

Have a Sooper-Dooper Week!
Peace!
